Good morning one and all,
Hope everyone had a nice Sunday following a special teams-fueled win over the Islanders Saturday night. The PK went 7-for-7 and some new looks and tweaks could be seen following the first 3 games. Here are the 3 impressions from that game.
Sid picked up his 500th NHl assist Saturday. He is the 6th fastest player in history to tally 500 helpers, in 554 games.
It was good to see Geno dominate in every facet of the game Saturday. He was a force to be reckoned with both offensively and defensively. The 4-point streak he's on (2G-5A) is the longest season starter since 07-08 season.
Steve Downie is quickly endearing himself to Pens fans. It took a lot less time for his new teammates to warm up to him. I wonder what he has in store for his old ones on Wednesday.
Andrew Ebbett is patiently awaiting his chance to dress for a game for the first time this season. We thought he might get a call on Saturday if Dupuis couldn't go, but Duper made a quick return following an on-ice scare.
A look at Marc-Andre Fleury's (mis)adventures away from the net. I now just cover my eyes and wait for it to be over.
I didn't really care to watch the Cowboys, so I opted for the Kings vs. the Wild. Cookie Monster scored the only goal on Quick in what seems like forever. It was a fun game, up until the moment Jason Zucker nearly had his throat cut by a skate.
The Rangers woke up and realized they're no longer in the preseason. They scored twice within 4 seconds in a shutout win against the Sharks.
The chase is on for Steven Stamkos in search of the next 60-goal season in the NHL. There are quite a few people besides him still on pace for 82 goals, though. including Crosby, Hornqvist, Ovechkin, Cammalleri, Simmonds and, most impressively, new dad Rick Nash with 7 goals in 6 games.
Just for laughs, this guy shows non-hockey fans pictures of Phil Kessel in street clothes and asks what they think he does for a living. Responses are just as hilarious as you imagine.
Given that Sunday was a day off and Halloween is near, the guys dressed up to the nines. I'm not sure if Sid is trying to appeal to the softer side of Philly hearts by going as Rocky Balboa, but it's a good look. However, this Kiss re-enactment is the absolute best thing ever.
