It's tough times for the Buffalo Sabres- who have only scored 13 goals in 11 games and carry a 2-8-1 record into the game tonight against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
We know what Buffalo is trying to do. To be good, sometimes you have to be bad. This is going to be a bad year for the hockey team from Western NY- just as the past few have been.
But - and this is important- hockey players are a prideful people. Buffalo knows they're not going to be good this season, but that doesn't mean they are going to roll over and die. It doesn't mean that Pittsburgh is assured that their goalie won't stand on his head or that the Sabres won't gladly take advantage of any opportunities they are given.
That said, hopefully they don't get the chance. The Pens power play is clicking at an unreal rate and playing against a bottom feeder should be a prime chance for the offensive talent to rack up more numbers, Make hay while the sun shines, and in the NHL, ironically, there's no better time than to play Buffalo at home on a Saturday night.
Go Pens.
