Good morning and happy Friday!
I missed the entire regulation time of last night's game for a school bake sale, and arrived home just in time for OT, so that kind of worked out. Off we go with the news.
If you go to the NHL stats page you will still see Marc-Andre Fleury's smiling face atop the shutout leaderboard. He is also second in wins and fifth in SV% and GAA. He earned career-best 6th shutout of the regular season in only 24 starts. [Trib]
Jeff Zatkoff was reassigned back to WBS, which presumably means Greiss is good for the Florida series. [Penguins.com]
Despite Patrick Roy-like goaltending, Calvin Pickard rather than Reto Berra is going to be the guy going back to Lake Erie as Semyon Varlamov is readying for a comeback. I know Roy knows a wee bit about goaltending, so we'll leave this one in his capable hands. [Denver Post]
Sid talked about his experience with the mumps. Lot of sleep and movies while in quarantine. There are worse ways to spend 5 days. [Trib]
Bryan Rust had a pretty good game last night and made the absolute most of his limited minutes on ice with 6 shots on goal. Mike Johnston seems to have been really impressed with his effort and contribution. [Trib]
Did you know that Sid and Geno never appeared on a magazine cover together? Well that's no longer the case. Whirl Magazine, here we come. [YouTube]
Lee Stempniak is the next player feared to have contracted mumps, say the New York Rangers. [New York Times]
Max Pacioretty was taken to hospital following a hard hit by Clayton Stoner, who will not face any supplemental discipline. [The Score]
Gordie Howe is hanging on. According to his family, the hockey legend has begun moving on his own power and he will even appear in an event with Wayne Gretzky in February. [Pro Hockey Talk]
