GameThread: Canucks @ Penguins

It's a hockey night in Pittsburgh!

Anne-Marie Sorvin-USA TODAY Sports

The Vancouver Canucks come to town tonight with a 17-7-1 record, good for second place in the Pacific Division. Vancouver is in the 4th game of a 7 game east coast swing for them, with a 2-1-0 record so far including a 4-3 win against the Capitals their last game on Tuesday night.

The Canucks, as always, are led by their twins Daniel Sedin and Henrik Sedin. Both are tied with 24 points in the first 25 games, and creepily have the exact same 6 goal + 18 assist breakout. Then a couple of new faces are contributing, free agent pickup Radim Vrbata (11g, 9a) and trade acquisition Nick Bonnino (7g, 12a) are the next in-line.

The Pens are 2-0-0 so far against Pacific Division opponents (beating LA and Anaheim) and 5-1-0 overall against the Western Conference so far.

Tonight will be a battle of the backups with the Pens giving Thomas Greiss his first home start and Vancouver going with Eddie Lack.

Robert Bortuzzo will serve the first game of his suspension tonight, which will open the door for Brian Dumoulin to make his NHL season debut. Marcel Goc is a game-time decision and says he's good to go, up to the coaches and doctors to give him the thumbs up. The Penguins didn't call up another forward, so it looks like they will welcome Goc back.

Only one thing to do now, let's go Pens.
