Well, that was a forgettable weekend, having gone 0-2 in two days to the Philadelphia Flyers. Further depleted without Chris Kunitz and James Neal, the Pens just didn't have the guns to compete with a desperate team on the playoff bubble.
At any rate, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Beau Bennett was cleared to return to full practice and so was Kris Letang, in a somewhat shocking turn of events. We'll see in the next few days what it really means for his actual return to the roster, but certainly good news in terms of his own overall health.
Rob Vollman ranks top-10 candidates for the 2013-14 Hart Trophy. While he is obviously on this list, having played in all 66 of the Pens games thus far, this could actually be the first season in which Crosby puts together a complete 82-game campaign.
The two back-to-back losses to the Flyers are worrisome in regards to the level of play, but shouldn't really affect the Pens' playoff chances. They jumped out to a huge lead in the division early, while most Metro teams struggled and before literally everyone got injured, and should reap those rewards.
We never really got to meet Marcel Goc properly, I don't think. Here, courtesy of VORAmerica, is a very recent interview (plus video) with Marcel that will shed a lot of light on this quiet German of Czech descent.
Good perspective from Dave Molinari on the team's prospects and how what they bring on the ice is as important as what they can bring off the ice.
Some laughs for the end. Definitely troll job of the year so far: Corey Perry inspects the glass, gives Patrick Roy the thumbs up, gets death stare back.
