After a long summer, it's finally time to drop the puck for real for the Pittsburgh Penguins. Game 1 takes them for their only game in Texas this season, against the Dallas Stars. As we pointed out in the game preview this morning, the Pens were 0-2-0 last season against Dallas, so it won't be difficult to be better than that this year.
But, first things first, time for new beginnings.
Phil Kessel, Sergei Plotnikov Nick Bonino, Matt Cullen and 18 year old Daniel Sprong all make their debuts in a Penguins jersey. For Plotnikov and Sprong it will be their first NHL game, period.
No night has the excitement and possibilities of opening night and even though it's a long 82 game journey ahead, that trip begins with a single step. And tonight that step happens for the Pens in Dallas. Join us here and talk about the game! Let's Go Pens!
