Good morning one and all,

The Penguins are entering arguably the most crucial 20-game stretch that will either sustain or sink their playoff chances. The team is currently holding an open practice at the Cranberry facility, and Fleury and Letang are on the ice and hopefully close to returning.

Meanwhile Matt Murray is bound to get some more playing time. It all serves to get his game and confidence higher. While saying the NHL jump was higher than he expected, he's held up pretty well. [PPG]

I'm sort of on the fence about this article, but with Feury in the first year of a 4-year extension, Pens future in goal is not unreasonable to be speculating about. Will Murray be held as a successor or will he be a trade chip to restock the prospect pool? [THW]

Elliotte Friedman talked about the odds of a trade involving Crosby or Malkin on the radio and here are some excerpts. The issue is compounded by the team being up for sale, so he doubts anything huge happens before the summer. [Today's Slapshot]

More Friedman's thoughts just went up, and he discusses the rocky road to a potential outdoor game featuring women's hockey teams. [Sportsnet]

Nothing puts your team at a disadvantage like losing the penalty battle, which puts road teams in the second leg of a back-to-back in a very tough spot. [TSN]

Jack Eichel was asked to address the gambling allegations against some of his former BU teammates. [Boston Globe]

The New York Rangers look to regroup after the break. Their play and results have really oscillated wildly. [Newsday]

I can't believe I didn't read this until this morning and I don't really have a good excuse except life is busy and it was Christmas. But man is this an amazing read. The oral history of the great 68. [Sportsnet]
