Beware the Ides of March.
And the Red Wings.
And pre-game illnesses.
Evgeni Malkin is officially out for today (lower body injury) and Sidney Crosby (illness) is a game-time decision, though coach Mike Johnston seemed fairly hopeful that Crosby will be able to play.
Center Andrew Ebbett has been recalled from Wilkes-Barre. If Crosby can't play, he will. Defenseman Derrick Pouliot has been sent down to the minors. That may have been more of a temporary move to stay compliant under the salary cap in the wake of calling up Ebbett. Or maybe a sign of bigger things, who knows. Time will tell.
For now, it's time to play Detroit. Go Pens.
