Sorry for the late post folks. Weather here has officially gone crazy. Hope it's a lot nicer where you live.
I'll have to take everyone's word that the Pens lost last night in Colorado. I didn't last till the second intermission. Here are all the recaps from the game:
At least the two new defensemen looked pretty decent last night. Both Cole and Lovejoy adjusted on the fly and hopefully they build on from there. [PPG]
Here's the recommended read of the day: what's it like to get traded, through the eyes of someone who's been there. [Washington Post]
It's a defensive-minded league and the scoring is down amid horrid officiating. Crosby and Malkin continue to chase the scoring title despite that. [Trib]
Alex Ovechkin has a lower body injury and is a game-time decision tonight. [The Score]
Slava Fetisov was on the Daily Show yesterday. I missed it but here's the full interview and the article is a recap. [Detroit Free Press]
The other famous Slava is not faring so well. Voynov's trial begins Monday, at which point we'll get to hear his wife tell us how clumsy she was by walking straight into the TV. Not depressing at all. [Daily Breeze]
Give him all the trophies: Carey Price is carrying the Montreal Canadiens on his trusty back. [CBS Sports]
A look at the playoff bubble: Who's safe, who's done, and who's making it interesting. [Grantland]
The Florida Panthers will be without their top two goaltenders for some time. After all the strides they made this year, it'd be a shame for their season to be derailed with it. [Miami Herald]
If they miss the playoffs, perhaps they can get super lucky to land this guy. Connor McDavid is on fire, posting up 4-5 point nights routinely. His PPG average, though, is still below Sid in his final season in juniors. [Pro Hockey Talk]
Sid says he'd love for his number to be called up in a goaltending pinch. You know he's serious, too. Maybe he should just focus on some shots on goal, eh Sid? [Trib]
Matt Murray is in the middle of an incredible stretch of goaltending, capping his third straight shutout in a 7-0 win over Bridgepost yesterday. [Penguins.com]
Speaking of incredible goaltending, remember the poor schmuck who a few months back allowed a few unfortunate goals and exited with a 300 GAA? That same guy, Andrew Hammond, is 6-0-1 in the Sens' last 7 games and played them right back into playoff contention. This might just be the #1 story in this NHL season. [TSN]
Check out the mask Mike Smith will be wearing tonight. You're poison, running through my veins. [CBS Sports]
Happy 34th birthday to a great American Paul Martin!
