Sidney Crosby scored a nice goal in his first game at the World Championships today.
Here's the GIF if that's more of your speed.
Crosby is playing on a line with Jason Spezza and his buddy Nathan MacKinnon. The trio combined for 3 goals against the overmatched Latvian team.
And here's your random but cool trivia today to impress your friends: if Canada wins the gold medal in this competition Crosby will join 25 other players in the exclusive "Triple Gold" club - of having won a Stanley Cup, Olympic gold medal and a World Championships gold medal. That's cool, but here's the rub- Crosby will be the only player to captain his team in all 3 competitions. That's reliant on Canada winning, but looking at their roster and their performance today, you would have to think they have a pretty good chance.
In today's other game, Team USA beat Finland 5-1. No real Penguin connections to USA this year- though the head coach is Todd Richards (former WB/S coach), so there's that minor connection.
