Phil Kessel Fridays. The hits keep on coming. Holy crap it's still August.
PROJECTIONS
Finally picked up the Fantasy forecaster for this coming season. They predict Phil Kessel will score 96pts for the Penguins this season
— Josh Rimer (@JoshRimerHockey) August 15, 2015
A reminder: Jamie Benn won the scoring title scoring 87 points in 82 games. Only 3 players in the whole league (Benn, John Tavares, Sidney Crosby) scored more than 82.
96 seems more than a touch optimistic.
Here's Phil's career stat-line
So what's your projected stat for Kessel?
Personally, I'm going with in a perfect world (meaning 82 games for him and the other top players) 40 goals, 50 assists. Of course, this is not a perfect world and a 30g-40a season could also be successful depending on the circumstances.
STICK FLEX DOT COM
Yuuup.
Meanwhile, back at Gary's
Kessel isn't in Pittsburgh yet, like a handful of teammates already are, but as evidenced by Gary Roberts' Instagram, he's still deep into off-season training. That unmistakable candy-cane taped stick second from left is Phil's.
What else is a good sign for Penguins fans? The stick next to it, all the way at the left belongs to none other than Derrick Pouliot. At least Phil will be well-acquainted with at least one teammate for the work they put in this summer with Scary Gary.
SHOOT THE PUCK, PHIL, SHOOT THE PUCK (CLAP CLAP)
The long-range, low shot against Montreal might be my favorite..
AND THEY SAY HE DOESN'T PLAY DEFENSE
Looks like some defense to me.
