Mike Condon traded to Ottawa

The goaltender that the Penguins picked up on waivers to be the backup until Matt Murray was healthy has been traded.

When the Penguins opted not to put Mike Condon on waivers when Matt Murray returned from IR, I guess the writing was on the wall that their hopes were to flip him for an asset of some sort.

That came true this afternoon.

First, it was potential.

And then it was a done deal.

Never bad asset management to pick up another draft pick for a player that you didn’t give anything up to claim.
