NBC has shown, somewhat surprisingly, what the Pittsburgh Penguins will be wearing when they take on the Philadelphia Flyers at Heinz Field on February 25th.
The City of Champions patch is a nice touch. Maybe Philly can wear a "City of...the Eastern side of the Commenwealth" patch, or something.
Anyways, a lot of Pens fans are pretty fond of the mostly yellow jerseys bringing memories of the early 80's and these do look like t he 1981-83 version of what the team wore.
For a history of the Penguins jerseys, see this 2014 Pensburgh recap
Hopefully, of course, these yellow jerseys bring more luck at Heinz Field than the dark blue jerseys believed to be "cursed" after Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin both suffered major injuries (neck and knee, respectively) while wearing them at different games.
No word if the Pens plan to make these regular alternates or if these most yellow jersey are just one game cash grabs err special for the outdoor game.
