Keeping up with the Metropolitans 11/20/16-11/26/16

Your weekly dose of Metropolitan action!

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

The Pittsburgh Penguins took on a couple of fellow Metro division foes this Thanksgiving week, defeating the Rangers and Devils on Wednesday and Saturday, respectively. The Pens also dropped an ugly one on Monday verse those same Rangers, but rebounded nicely in their convincing win on Wednesday. The Penguins pulled off an impressive come-from-behind victory in a shootout verse the Devils after a late tying goal by the captain, Sidney Crosby. That was following a very ugly loss to the Minnesota Wild the night before. After an up and down week for Pittsburgh, they sit 2 points behind the Rangers in the Metropolitan.

Check out how the rest of the Metropolitans fared in this installment of Keeping up with the Metropolitans!

-Is it rock bottom in Brooklyn already? Spirits are low.

After a truly spirited and commendable third-period effort to tie the game, the Islanders finally did it! With Greiss pulled for a sixth attacker — on a rush from a dump-in, no less — John Tavares set up Nick Leddy for the tying goal with 57 seconds to go in regulation.

Then Patrick Marleau deflected a Brent Burns shot past Greiss 35 seconds later.

There were just over 22 ticks left on the clock. We can only assume there was nothing left in this Isles season.

***Game of the week! Not a whole lot of intra-division play for the Metro this week, but the Penguins will be visiting Barclay's to finish out November. They're probably sick and tired of seeing #87 in Long Island and Brooklyn, but they're bound to see plenty more this Wednesday night!
