Pens Points: Captain Crosby Saves The Day

Crosby comes up clutch to help salvage Pens weekend

NHL: New Jersey Devils at Pittsburgh Penguins Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

As the seconds ticked off the clock on Saturday night, it looked like the Penguins were going to be held without a point in back to back games for the first time all season. Following an embarrassing loss on Friday to the Minnesota Wild, the Pens trailed late to the New Jersey Devils on Saturday and it looked like a second consecutive loss was all but assured. With time ticking down, Evgeni Malkin put a shot on net and created a goal mouth scramble to find the loose puck. Instead of jumping into the fray, Sidney Crosby waited for the puck to come to him. With 15 seconds left, Crosby retrieved the puck and lifted a shot top shelf to tie the game and salvage at least a point. The Pens went on to collect the extra point thanks to Kris Letang and Matt Murray in the shootout. [Pensburgh]
