WATCH: Pittsburgh Penguins recreate Elf, with perfect casting

A lot of the Penguins really have standout performances.

The Pittsburgh Penguins never disappoint with their annual holiday video, and this year is certainly no exception.

Though this one is an exceptional kind of amazing.

Recreating the classic film Elf, all of the Penguins get involved. In a brilliant display of casting, almost all of them get a chance to play the main character, Buddy, showing off their ability to synch up as a team to play the same character.

Sidney Crosby’s “Son of a nutcracker!” line is maybe too good to be acting. It was too real. It would not surprise me in the slightest if that’s a thing he actually says in real life.

But ultimately, as much as you have to admire the Penguins coming together to all play Buddy, there are other characters in the movie, and that’s where the standout casting really shines.

MATT CULLEN IS THE DAD.

Sorry I had to yell about that for a second. He’s already the Team Dad, even without being 40 years old and one of the oldest players currently in the NHL. So having anyone on his team actually yell “Dad!” at him is... it was a long time coming, let’s just say that.

Congratulations to the Penguins on another very successful year of spreading holiday cheer. That was amazing.
