Bad news for the Pittsburgh Penguins on the injury front. Evgeni Malkn won't be playing in the weekend's games in Florida (which makes a tough trip even tougher) with a lower-body injury.
Coach Sullivan said that Malkin has a lower-body injury and will not travel with the team this weekend. He is staying back to rehab. -MC

The Pens start a busy stretch, after this weekend they play Mon-Wed-Fri next week, including a huge matchup against the New York Rangers on Wednesday.

The team also said Eric Fehr is out a while. In vague NHL-speak, who the hell knows when he will be back, but it won't be in the near future.
Coach Sullivan said Fehr has a significant lower-body injury & will be out longer-term. Not season-ending. Looking at probably a month. -MC

Fehr out "longer term" but not necessarily for season, Sully says. Month, maybe.

With Nick Bonino also out, the Pens are down their #2, #3 and possibly #4 center with only Sidney Crosby and Matt Cullen remaining as healthy centers on the team. We'll see if the team decides to make any call-ups being down to just 12 healthy forwards, or who they might try to slide to center. Certainly Kevin Porter figures to grab one bottom six spot. Wilkes-Barre options seem lacking, there's 21 year old rookie Oskar Sundqvist who could make his NHL debut, or 28-year old Kael Mouillierat (who only has 6 NHL games under his belt).
