This year, the two Metropolitan Division teams that the Penguins will play five times are the New Jersey Devils (3 at home; 2 on the road) and the New York Rangers (2 at home; 3 on the road). The Penguins will play the other five Metro teams four times each.

There will be more hearing "O Canada" too, the Pens take 2 trips to all of three Canadian teams from the Atlantic (OTT, TOR, MTL) with those three teams only coming to Pittsburgh once in the season.

Other interesting dates:

  • Thurs Oct 13 -- season opener (and banner raising night) at home against the Caps
  • Thurs Oct 20 -- San Jose comes back to Pittsburgh for a SCF rematch
  • Sat Nov 5 -- Pittsburgh visits SJ
  • Tues Nov 8 -- Connor McDavid first game against the Pens (if healthy)
  • Jan 1- 7, 2017 the Penguins "bye week" (which every team gets at some point)
  • Sat Feb 25 the Pens and Flyers meet at Heinz Field
  • 7 of last 9 games are Metro Division games
  • Sun Apr 9 -- regular season finale @ NYR

It's shaping up to be a pretty fast summer.
