In all the Sidney Crosby news fit to print:
- Sid skates but no guarantee to play tonight in Game 5 [Tribune-Review]
- Crosby ramping up participation is no stunt [Trib - Gorman]
- Doctors say a possible fast return from a concussion isn't unusual [Post-Gazette]
- Another Sid practices, return unknown story. [NHL.com]
And, oh yeah, overshadowed but Conor Sheary also returned to practice as well. [Trib]
Half the shots that Alex Ovechkin takes against the Penguins don't even make it to the net. Blocked. [Trib]
Speaking of Ovechkin, the Caps have shuffled lines and he's now playing with 3rd liners. Sounds real smart. [Japers Rink]
And for more jollies, the Caps haven't even lost (yet) and some in DC are already calling to trade Ovechkin. About to be some Dusty Rhodes style HARD TIMES on the Caps if/when they lose. [Washington.CBS]
Late in series is when Bryan Rust shows some magic. Does he have any left for tonight? [Trib]
Former Penguin Kevin Stevens avoids jail time but gets probation for his role in illegal sales of painkillers. [PG]
Some controversy last night in the Edmonton/Anaheim game with a possible goalie interference on a last minute game-tying goal. [Puck Daddy]
In the most Flyers news ever: Flyers player Radko Gudas (Czech) punches Flyers captain Claude Giroux (Canada) in the face during a game in the World Championships. [Broad Street Hockey]
The Carolina Hurricanes sign UFA-to-be Scott Darling for four years ($4.15 million cap hit). For goalies that played 25+ games, Darling had the 6th best save % in the league at .924%, but has never had the opportunity to have a starter's workload. Carolina has pretty good talent, but for years has been hurt by poor goaltending. It will be interesting to see if Darling can be the answer they have been looking for. [Canes Country]
The Devils have the #1 pick in the draft but they could have opportunities to get another first rounder. [All About the Jersey]
