The “Kraft Hockeyville” pre-season game, which was going to be at a rink in Belle Garden, PA has been moved to the Penguins practice rink in Cranberry. NBCSN will still be there to broadcast it. OK then. [Penguins.nhl.com]

The owner of the rink isn’t disappointed, but “it would have been a lot nicer for the community if the game were held here.” Sounds disappointed. [Tribune Review]

In news that makes the Brian Dumoulin deal look pretty good, Calvin de Haan got a 1 year at $3.3 million from the Islanders and is in-line to be an unrestricted free agent next summer. Locking up Dumoulin for long-term at just $800k more already looks better than it did. [Lighthouse Hockey]

Reportedly Jack Eichel is in talks with the Sabres for a contract extension. Given the amount of money young centers are getting, probably wise for them to try and lock him up before he really breaks through to the league’s elite, but we’ll see if that will mean getting a more team-friendly deal. And what will Buffalo do with talented but trouble-making Evander Kane? [Pro Hockey Talk]

There were a lot of delusional people in Nashville this spring, but the most delusional had to be their now former-anthem singer who was disappointed when A-list country stars stole his jerb and got to perform during the playoffs. Well now the team is opening up for new singers next season and I don’t think they’ll have a shortage there. [Puck Daddy]

This is 40: Zdeno Chara. Weird summertime story: I remember odd bits and pieces of life vividly. Once such was helping my dad put drywall up on our basement ceiling and then coming upstairs and watching Chara pound the snot out of Matt Barnaby in a fight. The size mis-match was funny and stuck out in my head to this day. Too lazy to look it up now, but guessing it was 2000 or 2001. I don’t know why my brain is like this. [Pro Hockey Talk]

Slow day, but I literally couldn’t stop laughing at this meme
