Vegas Gold met Pittsburgh Gold last night at PPG Paints Arena. And by the end of the night, the Penguins came out on top in large part due to the American hero, Phil Kessel. [Pensburgh]

Earlier in the day, Matt Murray returned to practice, just two days after being diagnosed with a concussion. [Pensburgh]

With Murray out, that left only one active goalie on the roster, Casey DeSmith. Tristan Jarry was called up and as a result, Derek Grant went unclaimed on waivers and was sent to the American Hockey League. [Trib Live]
