The long summer is finally over. Pittsburgh Penguins. Washington Capitals. Not too much else needs to be said.
The bitter rivals lock up tonight for the first of four teams in the 2018-19 season. (They also meet on Nov. 7 and Dec. 19, both in DC and the Caps return to Pittsburgh after tonight alllll the way on March 12th). Will a 4th straight spring of a playoff series be in store?
Many believe so, but we’ve got (at least) 82 more games until we get there including tonight’s tilt.
By now, you know the stories, you know what’s going on. Crosby vs. Ovechkin vs. Malkin. Kuznetsov’s dumb goal celebration. Tom Wilson attempting to give traumatic brain injuries which he can’t do tonight or for 18 more games hereafter. Murray vs. Holtby in the pipes.
It’ll be fun, fast, intense. Goals will be scored. Hits will be thrown. Tempers will be raised. The NHL is back and what better way than to start it out than right now.
