It goes without saying that this season for Matt Cullen hasn’t gone as well as he or anyone had hoped for. He hasn’t been playing well.
This morning, we learned that he will be out of the lineup for a while with an injury.
Coach Sullivan says Matt Cullen will be out longer-term with a lower-body injury.— Pittsburgh Penguins (@penguins) November 19, 2018
For those looking for good news of or a positive aspect, I have two thoughts. First of all, it can’t hurt at all for someone else to get a look at some ice time instead of Cullen, given the fact that he hasn’t been playing well. Secondly, if we’re talking longer term, we may be in the range of months. Giving time Cullen to be rested and healthy and come back near the trade deadline for the playoff push could be a nice boost or addition.
All the best to Cullen after an injury that needs time to heal, but this could be a good thing for the team.
