The Penguins are at it once again, tonight against the Islanders. Pittsburgh has to be feeling good after a 3rd period outburst to beat a really good Colorado team on Tuesday night.
Casey DeSmith in the net tonight after a season-high 42 saves against Colorado. DeSmith appeared once against the Isles this season, back on October 30th in relief after Matt Murray got shelled. DeSmith gave 2 goals up in 24 minutes on 16 shots, so hopefully he and the team are a little more up for the task tonight. DeSmith though has won 4 of his last 5 starts and is building some momentum in the net.
The Pens will be without Dominik Simon tonight, which is too bad the youngster had been playing pretty well as of late helping the Sidney Crosby/Jake Guentzel line play well. It’s a prime spot for Bryan Rust to step up and do something with an opportunity to turn his lackluster season around, so we’ll see if he can take advantage of the chance.
