Since the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins got eliminated (our recap here), now it’s time to meet your 2018 “black aces” for the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Today’s recalls include seven forwards, four defensemen and two goaltenders.

Joining the Penguins are forwards Josh Jooris, Daniel Sprong, Thomas Di Pauli, Adam Johnson, Teddy Blueger, Garrett Wilson and Jean-Sebastien Dea; defensemen Lukas Bengtsson, Chris Summers, Jarred Tinordi and Andrey Pedan; and goaltenders Tristan Jarry and Michael Leighton.

The role of the black aces is to be the emergency of the emergencies, they’re often away from the team and skate well before the NHL squad in the mornings before the big boys prep...But just in case anything crazy happens injury wise, they’re a pool of players who are still ready in theory to help out and jump in. Even though that almost never actually happens in practice to ever need a black ace player to actually suit up for an NHL playoff game.
