You can pretty much just ctrl c and ctrl v yesterday’s piece because Tom Wilson is at it again!
Hey, a Tom Wilson head shot. You don’t see that every day. Every second day, though...

The NHL has dropped the ball so many times with regards to player safety, maybe now they have to get it right....Right?
Washington’s Tom Wilson will have a hearing today for an illegal check to the head on Pittsburgh’s Zach Aston-Reese.

Telling that the league calls it an “illegal check to the head”. The play went unpenalized last night. That should be a good sign that maybe, just maybe, they’ll finally hold Wilson responsible for repeatedly smashing people in the head. This isn’t good clean checks and finishing hits like Wilson and coach Barry Trotz will faithfully trot out every time, it’s simply player safety.
The thing with Wilson is this: whether an individual hit of his is technically legal/illegal is less important to me than the obvious fact that he shows little respect for the other players on the ice, which he's put on display repeatedly through his actions during his career.

Lots of NHL players still hit guys all the time + still play a physical style. They've also figured out how to not guys in the head (or in the high shoulder/neck area which is a difference of a few inches + of little difference when it comes to brain injuries) w/such frequency. https://t.co/zzksifKaVp

Wilson now has 3 head shots in nine playoff games this season after breaking the jaw and concussing Zach Aston-Reese and knocking Brian Dumoulin out of the previous game. Wilson has been suspended twice this season already.
The NHL doesn’t get it by now, then they never will. No one ever counts on them to do the right thing but as the bodies pile up sooner or later they will have to deal with it. Maybe it will be now.
