With the Penguins having qualified for the Stanley Cup Playoffs now 12 years and counting, you wouldn’t think that the same date on the calendar would pop up all that often. May 4th has though!

2008

The Penguins punch their ticket to the Eastern Conference Final on the stick of Marian Hossa in Overtime of Game 5 at the Mellon Arena.

2009

Sidney Crosby and Alexander Ovechkin duel for hat tricks in a 4-3 Washington Capitals win to take a 2-0 series lead.

2010

The Penguins hit the road in their second round matchup with the Canadiens and get a 2-0 shutout.

2014

After dropping Game 1 to the New York Rangers, the Penguins bounced back in Game 2 of the second-round matchup with a 3-0 shutout.

2016

This one is fun. Patric Hornqvist gives the Penguins a 3-1 series lead over the Washington Capitals in Overtime of Game 4 of their second round matchup. This win broke a streak of 8 straight playoff overtime losses for the Penguins.
