It was no secret nor a surprise that Evgeni Malkin was playing through an injury after sitting out a few games at the end of the Philadelphia series and beginning of the Washington series.
We know know what that injury was (and might expect more details on it from the Penguins when getaway day comes.)

It’s not great for anyone to be injured, but I’m sure he will enjoy the rest this spring while he can and get healed up.
