It’s Friday which can only mean one thing, it’s time for your weekly Phil Kessel post celebrating our beloved two time Stanley Cup champion. Last week we re-introduced “Phil Fridays” after our hero came under attack and trade rumors began to swirl. Those trade rumors are still hanging around but Phil remains a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins.
It’s been over three weeks since Kessel and the Penguins were eliminated from the playoffs and the players have long since went their separate ways for the offseason. Thanks to social media, it’s easier than ever to keep up with your favorite players and keep tabs on how they are spending their free time.
Carl Hagelin is playing the role of new dad by spending time with his daughter, while Zach Aston-Reese hopped over to Europe for a Spanish vacation with Jamie Oleksiak, Dominik Simon, and Olli Maatta.
What’s Phil up to? Well, according to his Instagram, Phil is currently somewhere in Florida spending time with his family. Phil doesn’t post much on social media during the season but he’s been pretty active now that the offseason is in full swing.
His latest update shows him captaining a boat somewhere off the Florida coast. His caption to accompany the picture also appears to be making fun of his lack of fishing prowess.
Thankfully, Phil is a better goal scorer than fisher but our dearly beloved Phil appears to be enjoying himself and tuning out all the noise surrounding his future with the team.
This is not the first time Phil has been on a boat this offseason. Last week, his sister, Olympic gold medalist Amanda Kessel posted a photo of Phil and their brother Blake aboard what looks to be the same sea vessel.
Based on the first photo, it appears Phil got a much needed haircut and shave sometime in the past week. He looks so dapper now.
