Sidney Crosby’s pre-draft scouting report remains incredibly accurate

Not much has changed when it comes to the skills and abilities of one Sidney Crosby.

Saw this on r/hockey and it was too good not to share - from 2005 a scouting report on Sidney Crosby. I guess it was pretty easy to scout the best player of his generation. But it does go to show how much Crosby had to live up to, and how in many ways not much has changed in the last 13 years as many aspects of the report ring very true and familiar for what Penguin fans have witnessed over the years.

Some favorite lines:

“his vision is unparalleled” - true, true

“uses the hard crisp pass and puts it on the tape every time” - sounds like a guy we know

“needless to say he has great hockey sense” - under-statement of the century?

“competes every shift, works hard but makes it look easy” - perhaps the most succinct and accurate way to sum it all up

“at home or on the road, does not matter to him; plays with great poise” - they didn’t get this note in Philadelphia

About every day is the Penguins lucky day to have won the draft lottery in 2005. Having Crosby live up to the hype and scouting reports has led to three Stanley Cups and a lot of fun along the way. And the ride isn’t over yet! Have yourself a Sunday, folks.
