Pens’ bye week fun starting to hit social media

Nice time for a break! And shots of Crosby’s all star jersey

With a bitter wind chill it literally feels below freezing in Pittsburgh right now, so timing-wise it couldn’t be better for the Penguins’ bye week to start. The players have already scattered to warm locales for some hard-earned rest and relaxation and some of those trips have already been trickling out on their social media platforms.

A group of Pens and their better halves (including Bryan Rust, Justin Schultz, Brian Dumoulin and Chad Ruhwedel) made the short trip from Vegas over to Napa Valley to enjoy wine country.

Evgeni Malkin took advantage of the break starting in Vegas by taking in a Tiesto show and getting a meet and greet.

Derick Brassard hung around in Vegas for a bit too.

Jake Guentzel put a nice sunset up that makes those of us trapped in the bitter cold almost feel warm...Almost.

Good guy Zach Aston-Reese was spending some of his time off helping get some adorable puppies adopted.

And Sidney Crosby...Well, Sidney Crosby had pictures released of him on the rink wearing the fancy new All-Star game jersey made out of recycled plastic from the ocean. Who knows when they were taken but it’s fun to imagine Sid still focused on hockey, which he will have to be soon enough with All-Star activities starting up in just a few days time.

The team is off for the rest of the week, the next game is at home next Monday the 28th against New Jersey.
