Kris Letang went absolutely scorched earth Friday night against the Dallas Stars.
In the third period, the Penguins and Stars were all knotted up on the scoreboard. Letang took it upon himself to change that, dropping everyone’s jaws in the process.
Thanks to a saucy little tip in the slot by Dominik Simon that got the puck to Letang, he went on to both dangle every single player on the Stars’ roster out of their skates and elude two block attempts en route to slipping an unreal, five-hole tally past goaltender Anton Khudobin.
This drew some attention from the producers at ESPN.
Letang’s highlight reel goal was ranked No. 1 on Sportcenter’s Top-10 plays for October 18, 2019.
Letang wasn’t done for the night after that beautiful display of stick-handling. He also buried an empty-netter to solidify the Penguins’ fifth-straight victory by a score of 4-2.
Pittsburgh welcomes home Marc-Andre Fleury and the Vegas Golden Knights tonight, and if the Penguins steal a win from them to grow their streak to six-straight (or force overtime), they’ll have the outright lead for first place in the Metro for the first time since 2016.
