If you haven’t seen our SBN Fan Pulse survey, they’re a pretty cool quick weekly look at various topics around the NHL. This week hit close to home with an early snapshot of the rookie of the year award.

Marino ranks tied-for-8th in rookie scoring with 11 points, and funny enough the two guys he’s currently tied with are Jack Hughes and Kaapo Kakko. You know, the two top picks in last summer’s draft. Marino’s also 4th in rookie time on ice per game so far on the season.
It’ll be tough sledding for Marino to get a lot of traction with fellow rookie defender Cale Makar putting up 26 points in 26 games so far for Colorado, pretty much locking this up early. Out in Vancouver Quinn Hughes isn’t far behind him with 23 points in 27 games.
But, it’s nice just to be in the conversation and will certainly be interesting to see how Marino does over the rest of the year. League-wide though, folks are beginning to take notice of the Penguins’ young rookie dman!
Here’s a look at how everyone voted for MVP

The fans so far this this one is Connor McDavid’s award to lose, and looking at the scoring it’s not much to argue at this point.
