Roster

The Pens have announced the following roster for this game. The Pens play again tomorrow afternoon in Detroit, so it will remain to be seen how they split the crew between the two cities and days. Today’s lineup lacks a lot of star power and high-end players.

Forwards: Andrew Agozzino, Anthony Angello, Zach Aston-Reese, Kasper Bjorkqvist, Nick Bjugstad, Joseph Blandisi, Teddy Blueger, Thomas Di Pauli, Dominik Kahun, Sam Lafferty, Jake Lucchini, Jared McCann

Defensemen: Kevin Czuczman, Erik Gudbranson, John Marino, Juuso Riikola, Chad Ruhwedel, David Warsofsky

Goalies: Casey DeSmith, Emil Larmi

Lafferty and Marino might end up being this preseason’s games played leaders for Pittsburgh, this will make a 3-for-3 for them in participation — which I believe they’re the only ones so far to accomplish. It’s also the first game off for 2019 picks Sam Poulin and the newly signed Nathan Legare, though it’s probably a good guess that we could see either or both in Detroit tomorrow.

The Blue Jackets’ expected roster for tonight is:

Forwards: Cam Atkinson, Pierre-Luc Dubois, Boone Jenner, Nick Foligno, Josh Anderson, Nathan Gerbe, Kevin Stenlund, Alexandre Texier, Trey Fix-Wolansky, Eric Robertson, Justin Scott, Kole Sherwood

Defensemen: Gabriel Carlsson, Scott Harrington, Ryan Murray, Markus Nutivaara, Andrew Peeke, David Savard

Goalteners: Joonas Korpisalo, Matiss Kivlenieks

Columbus is still not playing their big boys on defense for this game, but they’re showcasing the best of the forwards that we didn’t see a couple nights ago in Pittsburgh, with five of their opening night top-nine forwards set to play this afternoon.

Stack that to Pittsburgh and there’s maybe three or four of those types of players on the roster, but no high-end skill players like Atkinson or Dubois will be playing for the visiting Pens.

Feel free to use this post again to chat about the game if you’re checking it out!
