Are the Flyers still the Penguins number one rival?

One question I was asked on a podcast ended up stopping me to think a bit more than I thought I would. Stuff like that is worth bringing here to think what the rest of the folks feel.

The question, posed by a Philadelphia fan, was are the Flyers still that number one team that the Penguins want to beat among everyone? At first, the gut reaction was yes. Even though certainly in the last decade the Pens’ hottest and more even rivalry has been with Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals, I’m old enough to remember when the team in black and orange were the big, bad club that seemed to always beat the Pens.

But it made me think, especially with the next two games on the Pens’ schedule are Philly — Washington, it’s a perfect time for this. If you could only see Pittsburgh win one game, which would it be? And let’s go outside of considerations about standings and playoff chances, just based on pure emotion. Which game do the Pens just HAVE to win?

Also, if you want to see the home game in person, where Pens/Flyers games are alays fun, hanks to our pals at StubHub we’ve got a chance to buy some tickets.

On a visceral, primal level...which game would you most want the Penguins to win? (With the correct answer of "both" too obvious)
