Yoder comes to the Penguins organization from Fairview, Texas. The 18-year-old has been playing for the U.S. National Team Development Program and has committed to Providence College for 2020-21.
Current head coach of the Wisconsin Badgers men’s ice hockey team and former Penguins assistant coach, Tony Granato, actually compares Yoder’s game to current Penguins player Brandon Tanev. Granato notes that Yoder plays a 200-foot game, he won’t put up huge offensive numbers, but may be able to provide solid depth on the third or fourth line.

We’ll see if Yoder can harness his tools, but having players turn into solid depth contributors also helps build championship squads.

After making a trade with the Colorado Avalanche, giving away pick #139 for #149 and #211, barring anymore trade activity, the Penguins have one more pick to make today before they put a bow on the 2020 NHL Draft.
