Or should I say joyeux anniversaire, Marc-Andre!
In normal times, Fleury would likely be celebrating his day by preparing or recovering from a game in the middle of the season. Alas, these are not normal times. So instead, I’d like to think he’s pulling pranks and cracking wise on friends and family.
With his birthday falling on a day during the NHL season, I went back to see how he has played on his birthday in previous years. Here’s what I found:
11/28/2003
4-1 loss to the New York Rangers
11/28/2006
3-2 win over the New York Islanders
11/28/2009
8-3 win over the Rangers (Quick side note to this game: Sidney Crosby scored his fourth career hat trick in this game)
11/28/2014
4-2 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes
So, a bit of a mixed bag of results here with a 2-2 record. But that Crosby hat trick game must have been fun to witness.
Even if the age-36 season means an athlete is “getting up there” in age, there are no signs that Marc-Andre Fleury is ready to exit the crease anytime soon.
Here’s to a happy and healthy birthday and upcoming season for the Flower.
