Some people have some cool stuff

Saw this tweet from the NHL a while back and filed it away.

What’s the coolest stuff you have? Some fans invest a lot of time and money in tracking down some really cool and unique stuff.

Personally, I stocked up a little bit from a recent Penguins foundation sale and got this Sidney Crosby 2006-07 nameplate, which I believe was used for his stall in practices. 2006-07 was Crosby’s first MVP season and it’s pretty cool to own a very small piece of that story and fits in well with the mountain of Crosby memorabilia and random knick-knacks that I’ve accumulated over the years.

I’ve also got a few signed jerseys and pucks from Crosby, Mario Lemieux, Evgeni Malkin that were mostly gifted over the years. Those are very nice. I’m not big into equipment or collecting game used stuff, but I’ve recently acquired a Jake Guentzel stick too that is a nice conversation starter. There’s all kinds of really cool stuff floating around from game used jerseys and gloves and helmets and everything you can think of.

I have a piece of the PPG Paints Arena glass from 2016 and 2017, I like the look of that collectable. And from the old, owning a small piece of the Mellon Arena roof is really cool to me and it looks like Wendel August is still selling more of it.

(Also pictured, my dog Oliver wondering what in the world is going on and wanting me to step away from this and take him out.)

A few years back there were sales of some old Mellon Arena seats, I always kind of wanted to grab those for the future but didn’t really have the space for them back then. Those might be tough to find in the future, but I’ll be looking for it.

I also enjoy having a locker-room shirt from all five of the Penguins’ Stanley Cup victories. A lot of these are still in regular rotation to wear around the house. Not exactly a unique item to collect since thousands are produced, but fun to keep around just the same.

I’m not a big playing card person, even though these days a lot of them look really cool with pieces of jerseys included in the card.

What’s the favorite items you have in your collection? It could range from one-of-a-kind and game-used to just simply important to you be it a special jersey, hat or shirt that you got from someone you love or like to wear on game days!
