Taking a trip down memory lane: Reminiscing of being a 12-year-old Penguins fan

Looking back on old memories can be quite a fun time.

Who was your favorite Penguins player when you were twelve years old? That’s a question we asked Penguins fans earlier this week, and we got a wide variety of answers.

Not only did we get good answers, but a lot of good visuals with trading cards, GIFs, photos and more along with the responses.

The answers vary based on era as everyone was obviously 12 years old at a different time.

For me, I turned 12 during the 1997-98 season, the first for the Penguins in my lifetime it was a season that did not involve Mario Lemieux being on the ice. Lemieux was obviously still my favorite overall player, but if we're going with someone on the ice for the team that season, it would have to be Jaromir Jagr.

Here are some of the best answers:

Look at that hair flowing in the wind.

Classic Mark Recchi!

A fantastically creative way to bring both Darius Kasparitis AND Jaromir Jagr to the mix.

That 46-game streak ended in 1990.

Great answer here too.

Dark times for John. Thankfully for his sake, things got brighter quickly in 1984.

Johan Hedberg has entered the chat. Bonus points for creativity!

Sidney Crosby an obvious answer for the younger crowd — the crowd that was hitting teenage sports fandom as Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, & Co. entered the league and took it by storm are so blessed.
