On this day in 2012, Penguins center Evgeni Malkin registered a five-point game as Pittsburgh defeated the visiting Winnipeg Jets 8-4 at PPG Paints Arena.

Malkin was one of 11 players to score a point during the big win against the Jets, with two goals and three assists.

Brad Thiessen (!!!) was the goalie for the Penguins, stopping twenty six of thirty shots to register the win.

The Penguins trailed 2-1 in the game and the game was also tied 3-3 before the Penguins pulled away in the third period to stretch their lead even further.

The win for the Penguins was also its twelfth win in thirteen games, with the only loss in that stretch coming to the Philadelphia Flyers in the game before the Winnipeg game.

Now.....let’s not stop and think about what happened in the 2012 playoffs or any of that kind of stuff. That’s just not necessary.
