The NHL unveiled a 64 moment bracket-style contest pitting two memorable moments against each other each day until there is only one remaining. The voting began last week, and the Western Conference gets the first 16 days to settle their moments before moving to the Eastern Conference later this week.
Five “moments” moved on to the next round last week and that means seven more advanced this week. Let’s see how it went down.
The sixth matchup, and first of the week last Sunday, was an awfully close one. It was Oliver Ekman-Larsson honoring a young cancer patient with the ceremonial puck drop before their game against Calgary against Connor McDavid’s no-look move and brilliant goal against Toronto.

The seventh matchup put two historic moments against each other with the Vegas Golden Knights becoming the second fastest franchise to 100 wins squaring off against the Daniel and Henrik Sedin’s jersey retirement in Vancouver.

Matchup eight was one of my favorite light-hearted moments of the year when Nikolaj Ehlers of the Jets had a tough decision to make going against the St. Louis Blues Stanley Cup banner night in St. Louis.
The ninth matchup had old friend Marc-Andre Fleury’s unreal save on Toronto going against Dominik Kubalik’s 30th goal of the year in his rookie campaign for Chicago.

The twelfth matchup saw the first responders that saved the life of Jay Bouwmeester during his medical emergency being honored in the makeup game going against Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl both recording five point in the same game.
