Another day, and the start of a fresh work week. Hope everyone had a nice weekend, let’s get after some news and notes around the Penguins and the NHL.
Catch up with some weekend content here from Pensburgh if you missed it:
- Penguins Gordie How hat trick club
- The ‘09 Cup champs got signed skateboards by Tony Hawk from Ron Burkle as a gift
- Ex-Penguins in the NHL: Metropolitan Division and Central Division
Looking at the Pens’ best draft class ever. Tough to argue with getting Sidney Crosby and Kris Letang in the same year. [Trib Live]
Matt Murray won the Anti-Vezina trophy and Jack Johnson won the Anti-Hart trophy as the league’s least valuable player for their poor seasons. [JFresh - substack]
Mock drafts now could be a point of interest for Pens’ fans. [NHL.com]
Would an NHL team tank a play-in for Alexis Lafreniere? (Of course not. Players are competitive and Lafreniere would only take the job of one of the players on the team. Also with a 1-in-8 chance, that’s not very good odds. Chances are anyone that tanks won’t get Lafreniere anyways and just punted on a chance to win the Stanley Cup for nothing) [Mile High Hockey]
But, suddenly, no fault for Pens fans to do a little more invested and interested research on Lafrenière. The youngster’s playmaking ability showcases why he is a special player and due to be picked number one, regardless of which team gets to pick there. [Habs Eyes on the Prize]
Former Flyers draft pick Wyatt Kalynuk has elected not to sign with them and is now a free agent. Sure would be a shame if the late round pick defenseman was the next success story in Pittsburgh ala John Marino, huh? [Broad Street Hockey]
