Regardless of how heavy of rivals teams can be, there are times when being a good human overtakes any semblance of bitterness between players and teams.
That much has been evident in the outpouring of support from players around the NHL towards the Philadelphia Flyers’ Oskar Lindblom.
Lindblom had been diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma in December 2019.
On Thursday, the Flyers shared a video of Lindblom ringing the bell at Penn Medicine after completing his final cancer treatment.
In response, the Penguins shared their photo of Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Kris Letang wearing “Oskar Strong” t-shirts.

We should not forget when Mario Lemieux returned to the Penguins lineup in 1993 after missing 23 games while undergoing cancer treatments as well.
After taking his final treatment, Lemieux was entered into the lineup on the same day.
As Lemieux took the ice, he was given a loud cheer at the Philadelphia Spectrum, followed by a standing ovation.
When Lindblom returns to the lineup for the Flyers, he should receive the same ovation at every arena, including PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh.
