One day after the Penguins decided to cancel their practice, their scrimmage planned for Sunday night is a go.
Practice at PPG Paints Arena was canceled “out of an abundance of caution” due to a potential COVID-19 exposure.
In head coach Mike Sullivan’s media availability on Sunday, Sullivan said “I know that phrase (abundance of caution) has been heard a lot these days and it doesn’t necessarily answer your questions, but it’s simply the best way to explain it.”

Sullivan also provided some details about the logistics of how the scrimmage will be structured.
Each “team” will consist of 20 players and the “game” will include three 18-minute period with 15-minute intermissions.
Sullivan elaborated that these conditions will best emulate the playing conditions that the players will be dropped into when the season starts on Wednesday evening in Philadelphia against the Flyers.
The scrimmage is set to begin at 6:00 p.m. and the Penguins will be providing a link for a live stream.
