PensBurgh Podcast: Who Makes The Cut?

With just one more preseason game to go before the 2021-22 season begins, the PensBurgh Podcast returns this week to analyze whose stock has risen and whose has fallen.

The preseason is almost over. Huzzah. With that said, the Pittsburgh Penguins are inching closer to finalizing their roster ahead of Game #1 against the Tampa Bay Lightning on October 12.

This week’s PensBurgh Podcast sees Robbie and I recap the last three preseason contests. In addition to the game recaps, we’re both looking at which players have risen and fallen based on their preseason performances. Danton Heinen and Kasperi Kapanen have looked like world-beaters, while players like Nathan Legare, Samuel Poulin, and Brock McGinn haven’t really flashed their best attributes.

While no lineups have been finalized as of this podcast, both Robbie and I also give our thoughts on some fringe players that may have done enough to earn a permanent roster spot come opening night.

The listener mailbag closes out the show with a very interesting trade offer as well as a discussion about LTIR usage and how that could benefit the Penguins during the season.

Enjoy this week’s episode and, as always, thank you for listening!
