Hot off the heels of a big performance against the Capitals on Sunday, Bryan Rust has picked up a personal accolade.

He has been named the NHL’s third star of the week.

During the week ending on Sunday, Rust scored three goals and two assists in two games, one vs. the Capitals and the other against the Islanders.

The three goals scored by Rust are among the best in the NHL over the course of last week and the five points rank among third best in the league during the same time frame.

In addition to the five points scored during the week, Rust’s assist in the game vs. the Capitals was the 100th of his career.

Through 13 games, Rust has scored 13 points with 5 goals and 8 assists.

The Penguins are set to face the Capitals again tonight at PPG Paints Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
