Winners of three out of their last four contests, the Pittsburgh Penguins sit pretty comfortably in third place in the East Division. Granted, the last five games being against the New Jersey Devils and Buffalo Sabres means the Penguins have likely been heavy favorites, but they will take points wherever and whenever they can get them. Injuries have (once again) ravaged this team. What else is new? For context, take a look at this tweet from The Athletic’s Josh Yohe:
Currently dealing with injuries and out of the lineup: Malkin, Zucker, Tanev, Blueger and Kapanen. That’s about $23 million worth of forwards and five of the Penguins’ top nine forwards. Not sure how sustainable it is to win with a situation like this.

With so many forwards lost to longer-term injury, now including Kasperi Kapanen, it has been nothing short of a miracle that this current Penguins team is collecting any kind of points.
With Kapanen set to miss an extended period of time, what can the Pens do to ensure they don’t freefall out of a playoff spot?
In addition to tackling this question, a loaded, six-question mailbag has new co-host Robbie and I ranking the Reverse Retro jerseys, talking about goal songs, and much more:
