When the Penguins take the ice tonight to square off against the Flyers in Philadelphia, they will welcome Evgeni Malkin back to the lineup.

Malkin has been sidelined, having missed the last 23 games with a lower body injury.

During line rushes at the morning skate, Malkin centered a line between Jason Zucker and Kasperi Kapenen.

Mike Matheson did not participate in practice, and head coach Mike Sullivan provided an update, saying that the defenseman will be out of the lineup on a week-to-week basis after being hit in the face with a puck during Saturday’s game against the Capitals.

Sullivan also added that Evan Rodrigues’ status is day-to-day.

Lastly, Sullivan discussed Brandon Tanev’s status, saying that the Penguins winger remains sidelined due to the injury he is dealing with, but he has been cleared to take contact in practice.

The Penguins will take on the Flyers tonight at 7:00 p.m., the first of two games against their cross-state rivals in as many days, before wrapping up there season with a two-game series with the Sabres later in the week.
